Design, art direction and bespoke typeface for Nottingham Trent University’s Art and Design book. The book includes a multicoloured sketchbook, stickers, postcards and a stencil. The typeface is based on Avant Garde Bold, but uses 24 different patterns to create the letterforms. From Andrew Townsend.
The fifth in the series of ‘Naturalis‘ from GF Smith features compelling photographs by celebrated Art Director Peter Saville and artist Anna Blessmann at the Tulis Russell paper mill in Fife. “I imagined something historic and craft-based,” reveals Saville, “but it was more like being at an engineering works or an oil refinery %u2013 miles of pipework, steam and noise.
